The Battle of the Big Five: We expect Italy to blow the rest of the Big Five out of the water at Eurovision 2024, considering they actually have a chance of winning the whole thing. France and the UK are very much distant outsiders, while Spain and Germany will be rooted to the bottom half of the table.
The Battle of the Balkan – We predict that Croatia will be the best-performing Baltic nation this year, with Slovenia, Serbia and Albania all expected to finish close to the bottom. Greece are expected to get a nice mid-table finish.
The Battle of the Baltics – The Baltic race could be interesting this year, but we are tipping Lithuania for the win, with Estonia and Latvia lurking behind.

When is Eurovision 2024?
Eurovision 2024 is set to be televised in the middle of May. The two semi-finals will take place on May 7th and May 9th, followed by the Eurovision final on May 11th. The shows will be presented by Patra Mede and Malin Akerman.
Where is Eurovision 2024 taking place?
It is Eurovision tradition that the final takes place in the country that last won the competition. Therefore, after Loreen won Eurovision 2023 with the song ‘Tattoo’, it was already decided that the 2024 final would take place in Sweden. Now, it was just a matter of where. Eight Swedish cities expressed an interest in hosting the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, but Malmo was eventually selected as the winner. The Malmo Arena, which can hold over 15,000 people for concerts, last hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013.
Who is participating in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest?
A total of 37 countries are set to flock to Malmo to take part in Eurovision 2024 in May. Most notably, Luxembourg are returning to the competition after 31 years away. Romania have also chosen not to take part amid financial talks with the EBU. Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Monaco, and Slovakia confirmed they would not be participating, despite being members of the EBU.

Who is in the final of Eurovision 2024?
We already know six of the countries involved in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest final, as we do most years. Because they are the hosts, Sweden automatically make it through to the final of the competition. The Big Five, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom also receive automatic qualification for the big night.
26 countries in total will perform at the Eurovision 2024 final, and all 37 participating countries will have a chance to vote for their winner. The ten top-ranked countries from semi-final one will join the Big Five and Sweden in the final, along with the ten top-ranked countries from semi-final two. That means we will not know the full 26-country line-up until the evening of May 9.

While watching Eurovision, you may come across the term ‘Big Five’ more than once. This refers to the five nations of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The so-called Big Five receive automatic qualification to the final every single year. But, why? That seems unfair, right? Well, the Big Five contribute the most money towards actually holding the event, and in return they receive a guarantee that they will at least feature in the final. In truth, the Big Five rarely finish that high in the table, so they receive no advantage in the race to be crowned the winner of Eurovision 2024.
